Feb-euro-ary

Lets be honest, you missed the jokes and puns...

So it's been a great week. My mom and dad travelled across the world to visit for a week. We toured, rode trains, metros, busses, and taxis all week and managed to see more than I thought possible. As you might expect, I am now exhausted... so this will be short and sweet.

Below, you will find pictures of a few things:

Kutna Hora - This is a pretty little town about an hour to the east of Prague. Upon first visiting this place, you might never guess the strange things found within. A few hundred years back, following The Plague and The Hussite Wars, monks at a local monastery were left with the responsibility of disposing of the bodies of 40,000 people. These monks, as it turns out, were either psychotic or extremely creative, because they decided to decorate their monastery with the bones. I've never seen anything like it. These pictures may not be suitable for the faint of heart.

Cesky Krumlov - Just look at the pictures. This city is so beautiful. Despite the fact that all museums and historical buildings were closed to the public during non-tourist season, we managed to wander through narrow alleys and centuries-old courtyards for nearly 8 hours. It was really great. I'll be returning to this town in May for a canoe trip. Real excited.

Praha - The rest of the week was spent visiting castles, cathedrals, museums, shops and Czech pubs throughout Prague. And a wonderful week was had by all.

Off to bed. G'night.

Kutna Hora's "Bone Church." Not much to say about this. I hope these aren't too gross for my blog... I just think this is unbelievable.

"Careful hanging that Chandelier, Frank... you could fall and break a bone." Ha... ha.

The Royal Coat of Arms... and Legs... and Collar Bones.

Cesky Krumlov in the snow. This is an unbelievably beautiful little town near the Czech-Austria border. Look for spring photos in a few months.

The Harveys out to lunch in Cesky Krumlov.

Another shot of Cesky Krumlov.

Prague in the snow. You really should come visit.

Bratislovakia... er, slavia.

Two weekends back I took a trip to Bratislava, Slovakia. This is beautiful town much like Prague, but much smaller and without the tourists. A handful of us spent the weekend exploring, eating, listening to great music by our talented friend, Katie Ammermann, and drinking hot chocolate so thick it drizzles from your spoon. It was stupidly cold outside (aka. we were stupid to spend so much time outside in the cold) but we had a great time.

On a side note, I learned last week that I'll be spending the end of June in Croatia teaching at an English camp. Real excited.

Bratislava, Slovakia from above.

An artistic photo taken behind a church in the center of Bratislava. Me, Brian, and Joel.

Five of us hiked up to Bratislava's castle at dusk. You can't see the castle in the picture, but it's there. Trust me.

A number of you have asked about the January music festival of which I was a part. It was an amazing event with lots of great music. Unfortunately, this is the best picture I have of me playing. You get the idea anyway.
