29 April 2005

I spent last weekend in the lovely town of Pribram with a bunch of friends. Saturday evening, we hiked up into the mountains and cooked dinner over an open campfire. Pictured from the left are: Brian, me, Joel, Jake, and Matt. I believe the town of Jince is in the distance.

On April 8th, my friends Kevin (drum) and Boris (sax) and I performed five songs at a student ples (kind of like an informal prom). For 30 minutes, you would have thought I was rock star. Really great night.

Another picture from the ples.

Every year, all the people of Kralupy flock to the ruins of the Castle Okor (pronounced OK-orzh). My friends Honza, Zuzka, and I walked a total of 28 km (14 miles) to and from the festival that day, but it was totally worth it. I didn't get any good pics of the hundreds of people who were there, but at least you can get an idea of what the castle looks like. I'll get crowd shots next year.

Still alive.

Hey!

No worries, I'm still alive and well. I'm just a slug when it comes to updating the ol' blog. Sorry it's been a while. While news is that Ohio is waste deep in snow, spring has arrived in the Czech Republic... and I, for one, am glad. Few things are as refreshing as green grass and blooming trees after the long gray. It seems, however, that the concept of April showers and May flowers carries over to Central Europe.

In honor of the time honored spring rain, I'd like to submit my top 5 rainy day albums. (In no particular order)

Marc Cohn - The Rainy Season
Damien Rice - O
Linford Detweiler - Gray Ghost Stories
Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Sandra McCracken - Gypsy Flat Road

If you disagree with the inclusion of any or all of the above albums, I dare you to post a comment.

I like you guys a lot. For those of you on the big e-mailing list, look for a new big letter sometime in the very near future. Maybe if I keep saying that, it will actually happen.

My mailbox sure is empty these days.

Talk to you soon.
